With factories located across the globe, Lakeside Food Group is no stranger to expansion, and this need to grow quickly and efficiently was recently reflected in the company’s desire for new IT equipment. We caught up with IT manager Andrew Keys about the businesses’ recent collaboration with Evaris.
As part of its recent purchase, Lakeside ordered two HP servers - model DL380 Gen9, which will be added to its existing and expanding server collection. Initially, the new equipment will work alongside their older counterparts, however, additional servers will be bought further down the line to replace the old solutions. According to Andy, the old servers are currently running with Microsoft Windows Server 2003, which has now reached end of life.
In his role as IT manager, Andy explained that there is a great need for reliable and efficient solutions, as well as development and support for 30 users. Therefore, he was drawn to Evaris thanks to our no nonsense approach to IT purchasing. He gave special appreciation to our team, who were keen to help and were knowledgeable about the products.
“The Evaris shop website was clearly laid out with current products and little clutter. This, coupled with the helpful pre-sales information were the main driving forces behind our purchases. When we did speak to the team, we were impressed with the prompt quotations and ease of service,” Andy explained, adding: “We will certainly consider Evaris when we come to purchase more IT equipment next year.”
The two new HP servers both run with Microsoft Windows 2012 R2, which means Lakeside is now able to benefit from a current, and supported, version of Windows.
Mike Cohen, Evaris CEO, had this to say: “One thing we constantly want to achieve is finding the best solution that is right for the specific needs of that business. With Lakeside, we were happy to discuss what they wanted to get out of this new equipment, and then advise accordingly.
“We’re really pleased they were impressed with our service.”
