Job Title: IT Support Technician (permanent)
Salary/Grade: £16 - £19k dependent on qualifications and experience

We have an immediate opportunity for an IT support Technician to join our growing help desk team based in Heywood.

Our help desk team is responsible for supporting and maintaining all in-house, hosted and customer networks, infrastructures and software applications. The team also resolves all support requests providing outstanding customer service when dealing with any customer query. Our environment is fast-paced and fluid providing services via e-mail, phone, remote access and on-site where necessary.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, self-driven individual with exemplary communication skills, strong problem solving capability and excellent attention to detail. The ideal candidate has a history of working under pressure to meet SLAs and is comfortable dealing with technical and non-technical colleagues/clients in a professional manner.


  • Azure deployment of servers and services
  • Migration of on premises infrastructure to public or private cloud
  • Office 365 and Microsoft 365 migration and deployment
  • Disaster recovery and backup provisioning through local and cloud solutions
  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues across a wide range of systems including Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Document all support ticket work against the help desk system and all internal documentation in the relevant libraries. (This will involve the creation of articles on common fixes to enable users to become more self-reliant)
  • Take responsibility for support issues, deploying short or long-term fixes with the primary aim to be to restore service to the client as quickly as possible; escalating support issues to other support staff where necessary
  • Configure and install new hardware equipment both in house and on premise for clients
  • Diagnose and resolve networking issues for customers; both over the phone and onsite
  • Perform regular server maintenance, proactive monitoring of client systems for issues and manage maintenance tasks in accordance with their criticality
  • Regularly investigate new software and hardware technologies
  • Attend training courses as appropriate for continual self-development
  • Actively look to attain knowledge in cloud-based technologies to keep up with industry trends


  • Previous experience working in an IT support role
  • Previous experience in a customer facing role
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows or Mac Operating Systems
  • Strong computer skills and computer literacy
  • Experience working with Windows Desktop Operating Systems (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8, Win10) and Windows Server Operating Systems (2003, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2016 and 2019)
  • Infrastructure support and networking experience
  • VMware or Microsoft Azure experience
