Every laptop battery is suitable for use in a limited number of laptop models and you can check compatibility on the battery’s product page on our website.
Most laptop batteries use Lithium ion batteries and manufacturers will often quote the number of cells the battery contains. Each cell has a finite capacity to hold charge so the more cells, the longer the battery should last (all other things being equal). You might also see voltage rating and milli-Amp hours (mAH) quoted. Multiply these together to get the number of milliwatt hours for the battery – a handy figure to use when comparing different batteries. Take any officially quoted run times with a pinch of salt though as figures are not necessarily based on normal usage.
