DELL EMC CONVERGED INFRASTRUCTURE

Simplify and modernise your data centre, streamline operations, cut costs and get ahead with Dell EMC converged and hyper-converged infrastructure solutions.

Dell EMC converged infrastructure products include servers, data storage devices, networking equipment and software for IT infrastructure management, automation and orchestration.

WHAT IS CONVERGED INFRASTRUCTURE?

Converged infrastructure brings together the disparate infrastructure elements that power IT systems.  Servers, data storage devices, networking functions, virtualisation, management software, orchestration, and applications are integrated in a single chassis to form a consolidated, simplified platform that features reduced operational costs and increased reliability. This enables businesses to reduce their time to market and frees them to spend more time on business generating activities and innovation rather than routine maintenance.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONVERGED INFRASTRUCTURE AND HYPER-CONVERGED INFRASTRUCTURE?

Hyper-converged infrastructure integrates the key types of IT components that converged infrastructure does, but all of the software-defined elements are implemented virtually at or via the Hypervisor rather than physically, in hardware. In other words, HCI adds tighter integration between more components using software as the ‘glue’. CI is mainly hardware focused whereas HCI is software defined with operations logically separated from the physical hardware.

The integration between components is much tighter in hyperconverged systems than you typically find with CI. That makes HCI suitable for a wider range of workloads than CI, because you can define and configure the infrastructure at the software level and customise it to work for specialised applications that pre-configured CI bundles can't support.

WHY CONVERGE?

For many businesses, IT is seen as a cost center rather than an innovation resource. With a simplified platform, IT can be liberated to focus on delivering services and innovation rather than keeping the lights on. Converged systems empower competitive advantage by delivering speed, efficiency and simplicity. Now you can align technology with goals, lower costs, and deliver faster business outcomes.
